About

Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) is a National Chapter of Transparency International (TI), the leading global movement against corruption. TISL raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

During the 2016 Anti-Corruption Summit held in London, UK, the Government of Sri Lanka made five pledges directed towards combating corruption in Sri Lanka. TISL developed this online tracker system to monitor and create awareness of these pledges and to inform their advocacy strategy. These pledges are:

  1. We will bring measures to bring legal and administrative framework in line with United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
  2. We will not tolerate impunity – establish a proactive program of victims and witness protection.
  3. We will prioritize prosecutions of grand corruption and money laundering.

Under the first pledge TISL measures compliance of the mandatory provisions in UNCAC. For the second and third pledges several indicators were formulated to measure progress of respective pledges.
